These terms apply when you use Skin by Phase, created by Liz Portugal in Toronto, Ontario. By creating an account, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.

Not medical advice

Skin by Phase shares general wellness and skincare information and estimates based on averages and your own logs. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it isn't a replacement for a doctor, nurse, pharmacist or other licensed health professional. The creator is a medical aesthetician, not a physician, and skin tips are general guidance, not a personal treatment plan.

Talk to a health professional about anything that worries you, including very painful, heavy, missed or irregular periods. In an emergency, call 911.

Not birth control

Period and ovulation estimates can be wrong by several days. Don't rely on Skin by Phase to prevent or plan a pregnancy.

Your account

• You need to be 16 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission.
• Keep access to your email and devices secure, since that's how you sign in.
• Use the app for your own tracking. Don't try to access other people's data or disrupt the service.

Your content

What you log belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can download or erase it at any time.

Skin by Phase Plus

• What it is: an optional paid plan that adds the Skin tab features (skincare shelf and skin notes, calendar heads-ups, skin diary and Ask Liz). Tracking, check-ins and patterns stay free.
• Billing: Plus renews automatically each month or year, at the price shown when you subscribe, until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe. Prices are in Canadian dollars unless shown otherwise, and applicable taxes may be added.
• Free trial: if your plan includes a trial, you won't be charged until it ends. Cancel before then and you won't be charged at all.
• Founding price: if you join at a founding member price, you keep it for as long as your subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, the current price applies.
• Cancelling: cancel anytime from the Skin tab with Manage billing. You keep Plus until the end of the billing period you've paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it.
• Price changes: we'll tell you at least 30 days before any price change affects your plan, so you can cancel first if you'd like.
• Beta: while Skin by Phase is in beta, Plus features may be free for everyone. Nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe.

Ask Liz

Answers to your questions are general skincare guidance from a medical aesthetician, based on what you share. They aren't a diagnosis or a personal treatment plan, and they don't replace an in-person consultation or a visit to your doctor.

The service

Skin by Phase is provided "as is". We work to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise it will be error-free or always online, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever plan to shut it down, we'll give you notice so you can download your data first.

Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made based on the app's estimates. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

Ending things

You can stop using Skin by Phase and erase your data whenever you like. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.

Changes and law

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
